It’s often difficult to train doctors in doing ultrasound scans, as the process is complex, and involves learning on real patients. To get over this hurdle and make training easier, the city has acquired an OB-GYN ultrasound simulator.
“The simulator has a mannequin connected to a computer and has a probe, just like an ultrasound. Doctors can run the probe over the mannequin and on the computer, an ultrasound image and a real-time simulated image will show,” said S. Suresh, MD, Mediscan, which got the machine. “Learning in a stress-free environment will increase doctors’ confidence,” said Indrani Suresh, director, Mediscan.
Gary Eaves, director, Asia-Pacific, CAE Healthcare, which provided the equipment, said it allowed for safe, controllable, repeatable and testable training.
